S. Ramakrishnasayee, Ranipet

Controlling inflation must be the top most priority The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh has assured that the Budget 2011 would bring down the inflation. One earnestly hopes that would happen. All what the Finance Minister has to do for this is to collect the details of mass consumption goods and exempt them from indirect taxes. Simultaneously, he has to take steps to boost their production. For instance, the Minister could grant incentives/subsidies to producers of such goods. Also, one feels, he must allocate sufficient funds to streamline the distribution of essential goods and services to optimise the welfare of the people. As the saying goes “The proof of the pudding lies in the eating”.
